BackgroundVital Signs is an exhibition that celebrates Hong Kong’s unique and distinctive visual identity through its iconic neon heritage and pays tribute to the skill, craftsmanship, audacity, competitiveness, precision, and can-do mindset that define this vibrant art form.

Presented in association with a neon sign conservation group, Tetra Neon Exchange (TNX), the exhibition showcases over 25 neon signs rescued and recommissioned by TNX at two spaces - Duplex Studio and Laundry Steps. 


RoleAs the Exhibition Manager, Kwong coordinated with internal and external collaborators on curation, artwork handling, licensing, technical production, facility management, operations, marketing and budgeting.

He facilitated the planning of four education and public programme series, including guided tours, panel discussions, workshops and film screening. The execution works include blurb writing, production and promotion. He also supported content creation for Bloomberg Connects audio commentry.

Bloomberg Connects

For a comprehensive understanding of the origins of neon sign exhibits, Tai Kwun invited movie A Light Never Goes Out actor, Henick Chou and the General Manager of TNX, Cardin Chan to record an audio commentary. Kwong has supported the planning and transcription of the contents. Vital Signs is Tai Kwun’s first exhibition to be launched on the app.

OutcomesDuplex Studio and Laundry Steps achieved 90,235 and 44,925 visitors respectively, making it the most visited exhibition at Tai Kwun.

Measuring from 425 survey participants, insights from Culture Counts stated over 95% visitors agreed the exhibition provided them a perspective on today’s world and appreciation of Hong Kong’s characteristics.
